Bhubaneswar: The Special Handloom Expo-2022 is being organized by Sambalpuri Bastralaya under POHI-2022-23 funds to boost sales and provide employment to weaver members of the PWCS/SHGs.
The Special Expo was inaugurated by Rita Sahu, Minister, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, on Wednesday.
In the inaugural function Sushant Kumar Dash, Director of Textiles & Handlooms, Sampurnananda Pradhan, Secretary, Sambalpuri Bastralaya, Bargarh & Hemanta Kumar Mishra, Marketing Officer, Sambalpuri Bastralaya were present.
The Special Expo will continue upto August 31. Here 55 stalls have been erected in which Exclusive Women SHG/PWCS of Baragrh, Cuttack, Sonepur, Athagarh, Baripada, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir , Koraput and Boudh Zone including Sambalpuri Bastralaya for showcasing and sale their products.
The stall are allotted to the participant on free of cost. Total 536nos of weavers/ organization and 718 nos of handicrafts artisans participated in the fair organized by the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicraft Department.
Total sales of Rs 10 crore was recorded during the fests. Besides, the food stalls have also transacted sales of Rs 2 crore. During this period there is a foot fall of 1.96 lakh was recorded.
