Cuttack: The Special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET), conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), has been postponed once again, sparking frustration among thousands of aspirants. The board cited “unavoidable reasons” for the deferment and assured that fresh dates will be announced shortly.
This marks the third postponement of the examination, raising concerns among candidates about the transparency and credibility of the process. Nearly 75,000 teachers were expected to appear for Paper-1 and Paper-2.
The Special OTET was originally scheduled for July 20. On that day, candidates had already reached their designated centres when the test was suddenly called off. Allegations surfaced that handwritten question papers along with answers had been leaked and were circulating on social media, prompting the board to cancel the exam at the last minute.
On August 1, the BSE had rescheduled the test for August 31, with Paper-1 slated for 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and Paper-2 for 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Admit cards were to be available for download from August 22. However, with the latest postponement, uncertainty looms again over the conduct of the exam.
Candidates have voiced anger and disappointment over the repeated deferments, saying that their preparation and travel plans have been thrown into disarray. Many have also raised questions about the board’s handling of the examination process.
The BSE is yet to confirm when the Special OTET will finally be conducted.
