Bhubaneswar: The Special Squad of Bhubaneswar urban police district has busted a gang of 7 involved in thefts on Mo Bus(es) in Twin City. The activities of this gang had intensified into a menace which prompted the Commissionerate of Police to nab them on priority.
Addressing a presser here on Tuesday, DCP Prateek Singh said, “All seven members of the gang have been arrested. Rs 57,000 in cash and nine cell phones have been recovered from their possession.”
There are several cases pending against the accused at various police stations in Bhubaneswar. They used to target buses crowded with passengers, board those, steal valuables and get off the vehicle discreetly.
Multiple such cases were reported in the Capital City in the recent past. The gang members were also operational in Cuttack, the police said. The accused have been forwarded to judicial custody.
