Bhubaneswar: The special summary revision of electoral rolls for the year 2020-21 is underway in the State, registration of claims and objections of electors which began on November 16 will continue till December 15, informed Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani at a press conference here today.
With reference to January 1, 2021, as the qualifying date, youngsters who complete 18 years of age that day will be considered eligible for inclusion in the electoral rolls.
Lohani said that those persons whose names do not figure on the electoral rolls, those who have married or have shifted from one place to another, they too are eligible for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls and they can make an application in Form VI for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls.
Similarly, for deletion of one’s name from the electoral rolls, one can contact the BLO of his/her polling booth.
In the event of the death of an elector, shifting of an elector to another place, or in case of an elector’s name appearing in the electoral rolls in two places, the elector can apply in Form VII and the elector’s name can be deleted, Lohani said.
Besides, in case there is any error in the electoral rolls like name, date of birth, relationship or changing of photo, etc, an elector can apply for corrections in Form VIII.
Electors can apply for the same both online and offline.
Electors can contact with the Electoral Registration Officer of their area and Sub Collector and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and Block Development Officer (BDO) or Tahasildar, the Chief Electoral Officer said. In addition to this, they can contact the BLO and apply.
An elector after obtaining the designated Form from the Electoral Registration Officer or BLO can apply by filling the Form correctly with a photograph and proof of date of birth.
Lohani said an elector can register his/her name online at www.nvsp.in or through Voter Help Line Mobile App by uploading required documents.
Electors can also visit the CEO’s website ceoodisha.nic.in to flip through the electoral rolls of his/her area and check one’s name and booth etc. A special drive for the purpose will be undertaken on December 5 and 6 in all polling booths across the State.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that on these days, in and every booth BLO and other officials will remain present with requisite Forms and extend all cooperation to electors.
Action shall be taken after completion of verification of all claims received after December 15 by January 5, 2021, and with the approval of the Election Commission final electoral rolls will be published on January 15, 2021, Lohani informed.
He appealed to the public to take this opportunity to get their names included in the electoral rolls and cooperate in the preparation of the same.
