Bhubaneswar: Prime accused in Manas Swain murder case, Sarmista Rout is very likely to have fled Odisha. Crime Branch ADG, Sanjeeb Panda said that a special team of the CB will proceed to a neighbouring state to trace Sarmista.
“We have set up two teams to probe this case. While one team will coordinate with police of three districts and carry out an investigation, the other team will be dedicated to tracing the prime accused Sarmista Rout. We suspect, she has fled the State,” said Panda.
The Crime Branch took over investigation of the case which took place in Chandbali on February 5, and subsequently in Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh, the following two days. As the crime has taken place in multiple districts (at least three), and considering the sensitivity of the case, Odisha DGP has ordered a Crime Branch probe in this case, Panda added.
