Bhubaneswar: Tourists can enjoy the natural beauty from the special vistadome train which would connect Puri to Konark soon.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday announced the Puri-Konark railway project worth Rs 492-crore with trains having vistadome coaches.
Vaishnaw informed, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned a new railway line connecting Puri to Konark to create a spiritual, heritage and coastal corridor,” Vaishnaw told a press conference shortly after he was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha.
He said 215 hectares of land will be required for the 32-km long rail line
Seeking the State government’s cooperation in land acquisition, the minister said that work of the project would begin soon after the required land is acquired. The design of the project is almost completed, he added.
Besides enjoying nature, tourists can get a glimpse of Jagannath culture inside the vistadome train through AR (Augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) technologies.
This apart, the Railway minister announced the setting up of special heritage hub at three- four places on Puri-Konark route. The hub would display the Odisha’s culture and heritage. The State government will be requested to provide land for the heritage hubs, Vaishnaw added.
Apart from this, Shri Vaishnaw said that, 409 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) in Odisha has been constructed in last 10 years and 220 ROBs & RUBs are now in progress in the State.
