Speeding Pick-Up Van Kills Toddler In G. Udayagiri

G.Udayagiri (Kandhamal): A speeding pick-up van ran over a two-year-old boy at Adasikupa Nuasahi village under Ghumusar police limits in Kandhamal district on Saturday.

The deceased toddler has been identified as Amlan Pradhan.

According to reports, the incident occurred at 4 PM as Amlan was sitting on his house’s veranda. The driver of the pick-up van traveling from Paburia to G. Udayagiri, lost control hit the child sitting on the veranda, and fled the spot after the crash.

Villagers rushed Amlan to G. Udayagiri Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Locals blamed the driver’s reckless speeding, sparking tension in the village.

Police have seized the body for postmortem and are investigating the matter. Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding driver.
