Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three youths were rammed by a speeding truck on Sunday evening near Benjadhi bridge, on National Highway 520 passing through Sundargarh district.
The deceased youths have been identified as Debendra Dehuri, Anadi Nayak, and Anil Dehuri, belonging to the Toda Basti area, which comes under the Kalta outpost of Koida police.
According to reports, the youths were returning home after completing their work when they were hit by a speeding Hyva, killing all three of them on the spot.
The incident reportedly happened at 7 pm on Sunday.
Enraged by the growing number of accidents in the region, the locals blocked the road, obstructing the movement of vehicles passing through the National Highway.
On being informed about the incident, police officials arrived at the accident spot and sent the bodies for an autopsy.
After a brief discussion with locals, the crowd was pacified by the officials, and vehicular movement on the National Highway was restored, allowing motorists to pass through.
On the other hand, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle a short distance ahead of the accident spot.
The police have seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the matter.
