Nabarangpur: One person was killed and 30 students sustained varying degrees of injuries when a private bus transporting students to the Chandahandi sports event in Nabarangpur district of Odisha turned turtle on the Jharigaon-Chandahandi road on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the bus carrying students of several schools in the region to Chandanhandi School Sports event overturned. While Prabhat Kumar Jena, the sports teacher of Swami Vivekananda High School, died on the spot, more than 20 students were injured in the incident.
The injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the area.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and rushed the injured to hospitals. They have initiated a probe into the cause of the accident.
