Bhubaneswar: Ace sprinter, Dutee Chand wishes to be the father, and her partner Monalisha Das will be the mother in the case of childbirth after marriage. She expressed her thoughts in an interview to a national magazine recently.

In an interview to India Today, in which she was featured on the front page, Chand said that the cover photo was close to my heart as it shows her applying ‘sindoor’ on her partner.

About same-sex marriage, Chand said, “I confronted critics everywhere including my family. But later, after a lot of deliberations, I managed to get my family convinced about the decision.”

Chand said, “Same-sex marriage has already been legalized in many countries. But India is yet to approve such a marriage. I hope the day will come soon when same-sex marriage will not be considered illegal in India.”

“I am currently focusing on my career and later will get married to my partner,” she added.
