Rourkela: A squad of the Drugs Controller of Odisha has seized spurious drugs during raids on warehouses of two pharmaceutical stockists here.
Spurious drugs manufactured by a fictitious company Max Health Care Pvt Ltd were seized from the warehouses of two stockists-B R Pharmaceuticals and Bharat Pharmaceutical, informed Anjan Kumar Sahu, Drug Inspector, Rourkela.
Sahu said that yesterday it was detected in Cuttack that spurious drugs manufactured by a fictitious company- Max Health Care Pvt Ltd has been supplied all over Odisha.
“We were informed that the drugs were supplied to three stockists in Rourkela-BR Pharmaceutical, Bharat Pharmaceutical and Medicare. We conducted raids and verification at the three places,” informed Sahu.
He said that upon verification it was found that three types of drugs manufactured by the said fictitious company has been received at BR Pharmaceutical and Bharat Pharmaceutical in the last week.
While adding that these drugs have been seized, he informed that in the last one week Medicare has not received any drug manufactured by the particular company-Max Health Care.
The Drugs Inspector further informed that the medicines that have been seized are ‘Sneeze 500’, ‘Medi TBR’ and ‘Treat 200’.
“We have seized the stock lying with them and have asked them to recall the drugs they have despatched to retailers,” he said
The raids were conducted with the help of police, he added.
