Cuttack: Police today busted a spurious spices manufacturing unit in Jagatpur area of Cuttack city and have detained two persons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, Jagatpur police raided the spices processing unit and seized fake and adulterated spices having face value worth over a lakh of rupees.
Raw materials, labels and packaging material of popular spice brands, processing machineries, etc have been also seized by the police during the raid.
The detained persons are being interrogated to dig out more details of the trade and whether there was involvement of other people.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the unit had been running for quite a long time and stuff produced was being marketed in Cuttack and its surrounding areas.
