Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday sounded a high alert in Kandhamal district, where heavy rainfall has led to widespread waterlogging, inundating roads and bridges, and disrupting normal life.
Heavy rainfall has brought Kandhamal district to a standstill, with roads and bridges submerged underwater, prompting the Special Relief Commissioner to issue a high alert. The Special Relief Commissioner spoke and instructed to Kandhamal Collector to remain alert and keep a close watch on the situation since some roads and bridges are overtopping due to rain.
According to sources, incessant rainfall has brought life to a standstill in the district as several low-lying areas including roads have been submerged. Also, vehicular movement has been severely disrupted, and people have been strictly barred from venturing out during the submergence, as a precautionary measure.
