Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu has asked Energy Secretary to advise Discoms (power distribution companies) to make all arrangements for immediate restoration of power in affected areas due to the occurrence of thunderstorms.
The SRC today wrote a letter to the Commissioner-cum-Secretary Energy Department in this regard.
In the letter the SRC has pointed out that Discoms are taking too much time to restore power disruption in certain areas caused due to falling trees/branches under the impact of thunderstorm activities
Such inordinate delay in power restoration is hampering the proper functioning of lifeline institutions and causing much inconvenience to the public during peak summer, the letter added.
The SRC has stated in the letter that Discoms may also take support from local Fire Stations and ODRAF for the removal of uprooted trees.
The SRC has said that he will be very soon having a meeting with Discoms on their preparedness/response activities.
