Bhubaneswar: A delegation of public relations officers from Sri Lanka, currently on a visit to Odisha, on Wednesday toured the Konark Sun Temple, Emperor Ashoka’s rock edicts, and the Dhauli Peace Pagoda, immersing themselves in the state’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The visiting team appreciated Odisha’s vibrant art, culture, cuisine, and Buddhist heritage, noting the striking similarities with Sri Lanka’s own traditions. They said the exposure would not only deepen their understanding of India’s cultural diversity but also help strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Odisha Information and Public Relations Department, and tour guides accompanied the delegation during their cultural tour.
The Sri Lankan visitors expressed particular delight at Odisha’s shared Buddhist connect and harmonious religious traditions, calling the experience “a bridge of friendship” between India and Sri Lanka.
