Puri: Veteran engineer and Shree Jagannath Temple’s damage safety core committee expert Padmalochan Mohapatra died of cardiac arrest yesterday at the age of 80.
He was personally supervising the renovation work of the temple for the last 27 years after being inducted as an important member into the technical core committee of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 1993.
As he was well-experienced in the steel framework of mechanical engineering, he used to supervise the related renovation works of Jagamohan portal box frame, Garbhagruha (sanctum sanctorum), etc efficiently. When stone slab had fallen down, the repairing had been done successfully under his supervision. Even, all the repairing works executed at Shree Gundicha Temple had been monitored by him, let alone the Konark Temple.
Gajapati Maharaj in his condolence message has prayed before Lord Jagannath for the departed soul’s salvation.
