Puri: The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has slapped suspension order on four Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) for entering the Srimandir (Jagannath Temple) for darshan of the deities without prior permission of the district administration as they were on duty only for the thermal scanning of the devotees.
Reports said that the dereliction of duty by the four ANMs has allegedly been committed two days back last week.
Besides being suspended, they have also been served show cause notice.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) development administrator Ajay Jena told media, “This came to our notice day before yesterday. The four ANMs on duty for thermal scanning were found deviating. We formally brought it to the notice of the CDMO. They have been terminated before four days of their due date of termination.”
Notably, the world-renowned Jagannath Temple of this pilgrim town has been reopened from December 23 amid strict Covid guidelines and SOP issued by both the district and temple administrations. While kin of the temple servitors were first allowed for darshan from December 23 to 25, the denizens of Puri Municipality area are being allowed ward-wise from December 26 to 31. Even now, the working professionals and tenants in the pilgrim town are also being allowed to have darshan of the deities in the sanctum sanctorum with valid passes after being tested Covid negative.
