According to an official press release Commissioner of State Transport Authority (STA) Amitabh Thakur inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chairman of HR Navis Rajkumar Sambandam in the presence of Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee on Tuesday.
The signing of the MoU has created the possibility of employment in Japan for drivers trained under the Subahaka Yojana.
It is worth mentioning here that the Odisha government has established free Heavy Vehicle Driving Training Centres at four places in the State under PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. This initiative has been mainly undertaken with an objective to make roads safe.
These Heavy Vehicle Driving Training Centres have been established at Palur in Ganjam district, Bonai in Sundargarh district, Chhatia in Jajpur district and Keonjhar.
In these Centres, eligible individuals are provided with free training in an ultra-modern training set-up, food, accommodation along with allowance and Driving License which is rare in the entire country.
The STA strives to get employment for the drivers who have been successfully trained at these centres.
