Bhubaneswar: The capital city of Bhubaneswar created a weather history as it shattered previous records by experiencing the longest spell of maximum day temperature above 40° Celsius in April, informed regional centre of India Meteorological Department on Thursday.
Going by the data provided by Met department, the spell of maximum day temperature continued for 16 days beginning from April 15. The previous longest spell was recorded in April, 2016 from April 6 to April 15. The findings have been made on basis of the data recorded since 1969.
Taking to the X handle IMD scientist Umashankar Das wrote: “Longest spell of Day Max. temperature reporting >40°C over capital city #Bhubaneswar in the month April : 15th to 30th April 2024 for #16days. Previous highest #10days in 2016 6th to 15th April. Data since: 1969”
