Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved allocation of land to the Centre for the establishment of Paika Memorial in Khurda district. According to a notification following the Cabinet meeting today, the Government has decided to provide land measuring 9.685 acres in Khurda Mouza, to the Ministry of Culture for the construction of Paika Memorial to commemorate the Paika Rebellion.
The memorial will come up at the foothills of the historic Barunei hills in the district from where the Paika Bidroha (rebellion) started. The land will be provided by the State free of premium, capitalized value and incidental charges to the Ministry of Culture, the notification stated.
