Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Thursday appointed Olympic bronze medallist and Hockey player Birendra Lakra as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Odisha Police.
Lakra, a defender, was part of India’s team that won bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Lakra, 31, was also part of the Indian team that won gold medal in the Incheon Asian Games team in 2014. He was part of the side that claimed bronze in 2018 in Jakarta.
“Heartiest Congratulations to Birendra Lakra for joining as DSP in Odisha Police. It’s a matter of immense pleasure to have the Olympian in @odisha_police who brought glory to Odisha and India,” Odisha Police Tweeted.
