Koraput: A state-level Chemical Disaster Mock Exercise was successfully conducted at NALCO’s Damanjodi unit on Friday. The exercise aimed to test and enhance preparedness for handling chemical disasters.
The mock drill saw active participation from various agencies, including the Fire Service, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), CISF Fire Unit, and HAL Fire Unit.
Key officials such as the Sub-Collector, Tahasildar, Block Development Officer (BDO), CSO, Regional Officer of the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), and AD F & B, etc. were present during the exercise.
The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) monitored the entire program, while the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Koraput district administration coordinated with all stakeholders and line departments to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the mock drill.
During the exercise, two fire tenders, one rescue unit, and one robotic monitor from the Fire Department were deployed to simulate a real-life chemical disaster scenario.
The drill emphasized the importance of coordination, rapid response, and effective use of resources in disaster management.
