Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has enhanced the enforcement and strengthened patrolling on coast to prevent illegal entry of Bangladeshi national in view of the current political unrest in the neighbouring country.
“The State government is well aware of the situation and prepared to prevent any infiltrators. The government has a kept a strict vigil on all the entry routes on sea and land to check the Bangladeshi immigrants. Both Centre and State government are on alert,” Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra said.
The marine police stations were alerted and asked to keep a close watch on the sea routes through which Bangladeshi may enter the country. The coast guard has also been put on alert, said an official.
Bangladeshi nationals may infiltrate into Odisha’s Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur with the help of fishing trawlers.
Notably, a political unrest is ongoing amid protest for quota. The turmoil got momentum after Prime Minister Seikh Hasina resigned and fled the country.
