Bhubaneswar: State Government today apprised the Legislative Assembly that the law and order situation is completely under control and police is taking prompt action in registering and inquiring into the case and justice being done to general public, especially the women and girl children.
Putting forth the statement in response to an Adjournment Motion moved by the opposition BJP and Congress, the BJD-ruled Government today stated that the general elections of this year, FANI situations and Rath Yatra have passed off peacefully.
The State Government’s statement further stated that the Maoist activities are also fully under control while no terrorist activity has taken place in Odisha in 2018 and 2019.
The statement in the House underlined that top priority has been given to ensure the safety and security of the women, children and people belonging to the weaker section of the society.
The statement also claimed that there has been a 5.9% reduction in the rape cases in the State in comparison to yesteryear.
In order to deal with the crimes against the women and children, Crime Branch has been issuing guidelines from time and again while the pace of investigation has been expedited. Modern techniques are being adopted for the qualitative investigation.
In order to help the women and children, the State Government has installed dedicated toll-free numbers 181 and 1098, besides the special ‘Mahila & Shishu Desk at every police station.
