Stevedoring Hit Hard At Paradip Port Due To Cease Work By Employees

**Paradip: ** Following cease work stir by the stevedoring employees at the prohibited zone of the port here, loading and unloading of cargo have been affected since Monday.

As per reports, the helpers of OSL resorted to the strike yesterday. The Paradip Stevedores Association stepped forward for a solution, but of no avail.

Only 90 employees of the Replay Company resumed duty calling off their agitation while about 1500 employees are still on their cease work strike.

As the employees of Replay Company resumed duty, loading and unloading of two cargo ships were witnessed.

On the contrary, stevedoring activities of 14 ships belonging to other companies have been adversely affected.

Yesterday’s cease work was limited to the helper-ranked employees of OSL near its workshop as they are demanding operator tag. It all started from the night ship. Following no solution to the stir, today’s stevedoring activities have been completely hit.

Sources said that the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) authorities have directed to solve the deadlock soon following which hectic exercise of negotiation has started and it is expected that a solution to the ongoing impasse will be made today itself.
