Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch arrested three drug peddlers from near AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Monday. The trio, Bhagirathi Bhatt of Tamando and Biswajit Nayak of Balipatna and Chandan Mallik of Dumduma were in possession of 2.58 kg of brown sugar.
The STF sleuths seized the contraband and booked the three in an NDPS case. “The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband materials, for which they were arrested and forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Bhubaneswar,” the STF stated.
Special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing since Jannuary, 2020. The STF, during this period has seized more than 54 kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 grams Cocaine, more than 103 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, and 750 grams Opium. “So far, 150 drug dealers/peddlers have been arrested,” the STF added.
