Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) arrested a person and seized a leopard skin from his possession during a raid on the Manmunda-Kantamal Road under Manmunda police limits in Boudh district, on Tuesday evening.
The accused has been identified as 32-year-old Ramakanta Bhoi, a resident of Luising village under Kantamal police limits.
During the search, the STF team recovered a leopard skin along with other incriminating materials from Bhoi’s possession. As he failed to produce any authority to justify the possession of the leopard skin, he was arrested and is being forwarded to the Court of JMFC, Kantamal, Boudh district.
The STF has registered a case under relevant sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The seized leopard skin will be sent to the Director of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun for biological examination. The investigation is ongoing.
