Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch busted a drug peddling ring operating in Bhubaneswar and Khurda with the arrest of four youths.
The banned substance – brown sugar weighing 1.03 kg amounting to around Rs 1.03 crore was seized from their possession. The accused were identified as Rakesh Kumar Barik, Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Jagabandhu Biswal and Santosh Routray.
All of them belong to Khurda district and were arrested during a raid carried out by the STF on Saturday. The four accused have been booked under Sections 21 (c) and 29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
An investigation has been initiated into the major drug haul from outskirts of the Capital City, the STF said.
Over the last two years, the STF has seized more than 55 kg brown sugar, 202 grams of cocaine, and 111 quintals of ganja. During this period, total 156 drug peddlers have been arrested.
