STF Rescues Pangolin From Suspected Poacher In Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday arrested a man on charges of illegal possession a pangolin from Mahuldia in Mayurbhanj district. The raid was carried out by a joint team of STF and Satkosia Wildlife Forest Range officials under Karanjia Forest Division in Mayurbhanj district.

The man arrested has been identified as Nilamali Dehury of Padmapur under Anandpur police limits in Keonjhar district. The pangolin rescued by the sleuths has been handed over to DFO, Wildlife Division, Karanjia. Besides, incriminating materials have been seized from the possession of the accused, the STF stated.

Since 2020, a special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched. The STF has seized as many as 21 Leopard skin, 11 Elephant Tusks, 2 deer skin, 8 pangolins and 15 kg pangolin scales. Total 47 wildlife criminals have been arrested during this period, the STF stated.
