Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch seized over 10 quintals of ganja from one Hywa truck on National Highway 16 near Tamando Crossing in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening.
On the basis of intelligence input on the illegal transportation of Narcotic Drugs to Jharkhand/Bihar, the STF conducted a raid and intercepted one Hywas truck loaded with contraband ganja and also apprehended one accused person namely Rajesh Singh (28) of Haradian in Bhojpur district of Bihar.
During the search, contraband ganja weighing 1010 kg (more than 10 Quintals) was found concealed in the secret chamber of the Hywa. The vehicle along with the contraband ganja was seized from his possession.
The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband materials, for which he was arrested. The STF has registered a case and the investigation is underway.
The special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 52 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram of Cocaine, and more than 103 quintals of Ganja/Marijuana, Opium 750 gram, and arrested more than 146 drug dealers/peddlers.
