Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday detained a person who was possessing leopard skin. The man identified as Pabitra Lima of Khamari Sahi under R Udaygiri police limits in Gajapati district was apprehended by a joint team of the STF and personnel of Ramgiri Forest Range.
The sleuths laid a trap on the road between Machaghara and Khamari Sahi villages near Mahendragarh and were successful in nabbing Lima while he was proceeding to a particular location with the leopard skin.
“As Lima could not produce any authority in support of the possession of possession of such Leopard skin, he was detained and handed over to Ramgiri Forest Officials for necessary legal action,” the STF stated. The Wildlife product will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India, Deharadun for Chemical Examination. Further inquiry, in this case, is on, an STF official said.
