Bhubaneswar: A group of migrant workers from Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, and Kendrapara districts in Odisha are stranded in Dubai and have made a desperate appeal to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda to rescue them from their exploitative employer.
The workers, who were employed as plumbers, have alleged mental and physical torture, non-payment of salaries, and confiscation of their passports by their employer.
According to sources, the migrant workers were deceived by a private agent from Bhubaneswar who promised them lucrative jobs as plumbers in Dubai. However, upon arrival, they were subjected to torture and exploitation by their employer. To make matters worse, their passports were confiscated, leaving them stranded and unable to return home.
In a heart-wrenching video message, the workers narrated their plight. In the video, they alleged that they had been deprived of food for five days and were being forced to work in extreme conditions for long hours without pay. They claimed that their employer was threatening them with their lives.
The workers through the video message have urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP leader Baijayant Panda for immediate rescue.
The migrant workers’ desperate plea has sparked concerns about the welfare of Indian migrant workers in the Gulf region.
