Puri: Puri SP Pinak Mishra has assured strict action against the person responsible for circulating the video of the Balanga minor victim’s statement, which recently went viral on social media.
Speaking to the media, the SP said that legal proceedings will be initiated in line with juvenile court guidelines, as the case involves a minor. Letters have already been sent to social media platforms to trace the source of the video. Once identified, the individual behind the circulation will face legal consequences.
Mishra emphasized that the Supreme Court has clearly prohibited the sharing of any video or photograph of minor victims, terming such acts a serious violation. The cyber crime department has been tasked with investigating the incident, with support from the Crime Branch.
The video in question was reportedly recorded during the victim’s treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and later shared online. While the investigation into the primary case has been completed and evidence will soon be presented in court, a parallel probe has been launched to determine how and why the sensitive video was made viral.
