**Cuttack: **If one is aiming to become a film producer in Ollywood (Odia film industry) then get ready for a stricter back ground check process including a written justification of your purpose as the producers’ body today made it mandatory for all who want to don producer’s hat.
The Utkal Cine Chamber of Commerce (UCCC) on Friday decided to take stringent action against members, if any one proved guilty in the ongoing investigation over chit-fund link.
The producers’ association might black-list the members if they were found investing black money in film production.
The association, in a meeting with all the members here today took a decision that the eligibility for new members would be tougher than earlier.
Speaking to media persons, UCCC Chairman Dilip Kumar Mishra said, “If any member of the association is proved guilty in court then his or her membership will be cancelled and such people would be debarred from producing films in future.”
It has also made several guidelines for the new producers.
“Actors acted and involved in the movies produced by chit fund companies should be brought under investigation and arrested if found guilty. Actors like Anubhav Mohanty, Akas Das Nayak and Papu Pompom and many others had gone to Surat in Gujarat for stage shows and promoted the tainted chit fund company,” said Congress leader Hussein Rabi Gandhi.
According to the new rules, bank statement, PAN card and NOC from police would be mandatory for the aspiring producers seeking membership. Besides, their sources of income would also be verified before they are accepted as members of UCCC.
The association had decided to hold a meeting following allegations of some members of the body had invested chit fund and other illegally-gotten money in Odia films.
Notably, Prabhas Rout, chairman of Oscar chit fund company was arrested by the Crime Branch after it was found that he had invested investors’ money in film production.
Following his arrest, there is a huge public outcry in nooks and corners of the state to arrest such people including actors involved in the crime.
