Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has imposed stricter penalties for violators of COVID-19 guidelines. Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, people who are found spitting in public places or not wearing masks, will be fined Rs 1,000 for the first violation.
For the second and further violations for spitting and no-mask, the violators will be fined Rs 5,000.
Congregation at public places will be strictly prohibited and at closed places, the adherance of COVID guidelines should be strictly followed. In case, the authorities find offices, establishments, market complexes and shops violating physical distancing norms, a fine of Rs 10,000 and sealing for a week will be executed.
For further offences, fine of Rs 10,000 and sealing for one month will be imposed, added Tripathy.
Similar enforcement will be done in case of violations in marriage functions. If the authorities find more than 50 persons at a wedding function and / or violation of social distancing norms, fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed.
“The venue will be sealed. Besides, we are contemplating increasing the upper ceiling of fine in marriage function violations,” said Tripathy.
