**Bhubaneswar:** The Utkal Chemists and Druggists Association have decided to join the strike called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists’ Association and close the medicine stores across the State for a day on September 28.
Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Pragati Mohanty, Utkal Chemists and Druggists Association PRO said, “We are protesting against the online sale of medicines, which will affect the business of medicine retailers adversely. All the members of our association which has a membership of more than 17,000 will join the strike. However, the medicine stores in the premises of hospitals will put their shutters half down in protest, and cater to the emergency need of the patients.”
The national body of the drug traders in the country All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists’ Association is also protesting against the Central Government’s proposed e-pharmacy policy and is accusing it of trying to bring the new policy without proper consultations, checks and balances.
