Bhubaneswar: A student riding a scooter was killed on the spot after a truck ran over him at Rasulgarh Chhak in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Pratyuparna Das, a first-year BTech student at the Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUAT).
According to reports, the speeding truck crushed the scooter rider and escaped from the spot. Angry over the accident, locals staged a road blockade resulting in a huge traffic jam from Rasulgarh to Vanivihar. Vehicular movement on the stretch of the road was stopped completely for a period of time.
On being informed, police reached the spot and regulated the traffic. They have initiated an investigation into the matter.
