Dhenkanal: Around 11 students locked inside Ramakrushna Adarsha Sikhya Kendra at Mahulpal village under Kamakhyanagar block of Dhenkanal district were rescued by police and block education authorities on Saturday.
Reportedly, being a residential school, 11 out of 51 students were residing on the school premises. They had earlier alleged that they are being forced to do manual labour and even the teachers used to lock them inside the school and leave them at their own risk.
Yesterday, some guardians of the students visited the school to find the truth behind the allegations and found the students locked inside with no teacher present on the premises. The students had also been left without adequate food.
On getting information, Additional Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Kamakhyanagar, Jaladhar Lenka and Kamakhyanagar Police reached the spot and rescued the students. While Lenka said that appropriate action will be taken in this regard after a proper probe, the school Principal Mamata Manjari Das has alleged it as a conspiracy to close the school.
