**Bhubaneswar:** Student leaders from several organizations on Sunday staged demonstration to express their solidarity in favor of the Rama Devi Women’s University Students whose pictures were posted on social media with some derogatory captions.
The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) and All India Mahila Samskritik Sanghatan (AIMSS) staged protest against the ‘Aarohi Creations’ who allegedly posted the pictures on Facebook.
Speaking on this, Swasti Sangeeta Dalei, Secretary of City Committee, AIDSO said, “Everyone these days use social networking sites. People post their photos on social networking sites. But in this case, some people have misused these photos to defame the girls. We demand strict action against the culprits.”
Similarly, Akhil Bhartiya Bidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also condemned the act. ABVP State General Secretary Abhilash Panda said, “Girls who have been victim of this shameful act are going through trauma. The police department and the IT cell need to take quick actions and nab the accused.”
On the other hand, police have failed to trace the accused even after two days of the incident.
Briefing to the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “ Case has been registered in this case. We are trying to contact with the Facebook to get more information about the controversial Facebook Page. Hopefully we will soon trace the person who was behind the act. ”
Notably, a page named Aarohi Creations posted the pictures of some students of this reputed women’s college with abusive caption “sex contest” and numbering the girls, without the knowledge of the girls.
