Bhubaneswar: As the Election Commission of India has left no stone unturned to increase the voting percentage in the ensuing general elections, various government agencies and social organisations have stepped forward to raise awareness among the voters.
In a bid to make voters aware, Baliguda sub-collector Rina Pradhan in Kandhamal district adopted a unique event for the purpose. She herself walked down the ramp holding placards to make people aware of their voting rights.
The placard mentioned with ‘My Vote, My Pride’ slogan.
Like other participants, the officer took part in the fashion show organised by the administration of Baliguda sub-division at the conference hall.
With an aim to increase voting percentage, all BDOs and Tehsildars of nine blocks under the sub-division participated in the event.
A number of participants from various blocks performed on different themes to spread awareness among voters.
“In last election, we had registered 50-55 vote percentage. We have aimed to increase the figure this time. So, we are organising various unique method to spread awareness. The first timers and elderly people were our point of focus in today’s programme,” the sub-collector said.
