Subarnapur: Pangolin Trade Racket Busted, 2 Arrested

Subarnapur: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch rescued a pangolin near Rajakothi in Subarnapur district, today. They also arrested two smugglers and seized Pangolin scales weighing 5.065 kg.

Based on a tip-off, the team apprehended two individuals who were reportedly on their way to sell the animal and its scales. The accused persons, Somanath Bag and Marsalan Bhengera could not produce any valid authority for being in possession of the pangolin and the huge amount of scales.

A case has been registered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The do has been arrested and forwarded to court.

The rescued animal was handed over to forest officials.
