Bhubaneswar: The Woman and Child Development Department warned citizens against falling prey to scammers or fraudsters, who are reportedly making fake calls and asking to click on links to get financial assistance under the Odisha government’s flagship Subhadra scheme.
As per reports, of late incidents have come to the fore where the fraudsters allegedly are claiming to be representatives of banks or government officials and asking people to click on links or provide sensitive information.
Meanwhile, the Women and Child Development Department has clarified that no such calls or links are being sent by the government or banks. The department has advised citizens to be cautious and not to respond to such calls or click on suspicious links.
It is worthwhile to mention that the Subhadra scheme is set to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. Beneficiaries will receive the first instalment of financial assistance on the same day. To ensure transparency, the government is conducting a test transfer of Re 1 to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.
Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
It is pertinent to mention that Subhadra Yojana is an epoch-making initiative to promote the all-round development of women. Under the women-centric scheme, all eligible women will be paid Rs 50,000 at the rate of Rs10,000 per annum in two instalments for 5 years.
Every year, the first instalment will be released on Raksha Bandhan Day and the second instalment on International Women’s Day.
To spread digital financial literacy among women, 100 women from each Gram Panchayat and Municipal area with the highest digital transactions will receive an additional Rs 500 as a reward directly to their bank accounts.
