Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that the third installment of the Subhadra Yojana will be disbursed on August 9, coinciding with the festival of ‘Rakhi Purnima.’ Alongside this, the Subhadra portal will reopen for new applications, allowing eligible women across the state to apply for the scheme.
The Subhadra Yojana is a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women by providing financial assistance. However, in recent months, nearly two lakh applications were rejected after verification revealed some beneficiaries did not meet eligibility criteria. These ineligible cases included those who filed income tax returns post receiving the first installment, purchased vehicles, or owned five or more acres of land.
“The government is committed to ensuring that the scheme reaches only genuine beneficiaries. After the August 9 installment payment, a fresh survey will be conducted to identify eligible applicants who were previously excluded,” said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida while speaking to the media.
The government has planned door-to-door verification drives to double-check the eligibility of applicants.
“Those found eligible during this process will receive their payments without further delay,” Parida added.
The Subhadra portal (https://subhadra.odisha.gov.in/) will reopen after August 9. Women aged 21 years and above will be able to register for the scheme online. The portal’s reopening aims to expand the scheme’s reach and ensure that more women benefit from the financial aid.
Additionally, documents of nearly 93,000 women above 60 years of age are being forwarded to the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department (SSEPD) for pension disbursement.
