Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s flagship women welfare initiative, “Subhadra Yojana,” has reached a remarkable milestone, benefiting over 1.0064 crore women across the state. With the disbursement of the fifth phase of the first installment today, the total financial aid under the scheme has now surpassed Rs. 5,032 crore, reinforcing the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment and financial independence.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who led the virtual disbursement event from the Women and Child Development Department conference hall, transferred Rs. 5,000 each to more than 2.34 lakh beneficiaries via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), amounting to over Rs. 1,17 crore. Addressing the public via YouTube Live, she urged all women, especially Subhadra beneficiaries, mothers, and sisters, to light lamps at their homes on March 7, 2025, in celebration of this success.
Transforming Women’s Lives Across Odisha
Launched in Bhubaneswar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Subhadra Yojana has been implemented in multiple phases:
First phase: 25.29 lakh women benefited in Bhubaneswar.
Second phase: 35 lakh women received financial aid in Baripada, Mayurbhanj.
Third phase: 20 lakh women benefited in Sundargarh.
Fourth phase: Over 18 lakh women received assistance.
Fifth phase: 2.34 lakh beneficiaries received Rs. 5,000 each, marking the latest step in the initiative.
With today’s disbursement, the Subhadra Yojana has now impacted 1.64 crore women, providing them with financial support to enhance their livelihoods.
Special Recognition for Anganwadi Workers
Recognizing the contributions of Anganwadi workers and helpers in implementing the Subhadra Yojana, Deputy Chief Minister Parida announced a special incentive:
Rs. 1,500 for each Anganwadi worker
Rs. 500 for each Anganwadi helper
The state government will allocate over Rs. 14 crore for this incentive, acknowledging the frontline workers’ role in executing this transformational scheme.
A Pledge to Strengthen Women’s Empowerment
During the event, the Deputy Chief Minister engaged virtually with Collectors, social workers, and beneficiaries from different districts, reaffirming the government’s commitment to further strengthening the Subhadra Yojana by incorporating skill development programs for women.
The disbursement event was attended by Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Shubha Sharma, Director Monisha Banerjee, and other senior officials, who have been instrumental in the scheme’s execution.
With Subhadra Yojana setting new benchmarks in women’s welfare, the Odisha government continues to pave the way for economic empowerment and social upliftment of women across the state.
