Bhubaneswar: Investment in education is a unique investment in the present and for the future. In recent years the state government has made major investments in its school education sector and the result we’ve been witnessing is remarkable and inspiring.
“We have transformed schools and transformed dreams of lakhs of children of Odisha. We have reached out to past pupils and members of the community and worked as a team to revamp the educational ecosystem of the state. Delivering a state’s priority programme of the state was a huge opportunity and we will continue to do so in the future,” said Susmita Bagchi, Chairperson, Mo School.
Addressing the 10th Governing Council Meeting of Mo School on Monday, Bagchi said, “Success of Mo School will be seen, felt, remembered by an entire generation that will experience the Mo School project works and see the logo in front of their school gate every day for 10 years of the most formative period of their lives.”
After the successful work in high schools of the state, Mo School will revamp 10,000 elementary schools of the state with help of alumni and local CSRs. After the need-based assessment, schools will be developed holistically with systemic and multifaceted approaches. The programme will focus on providing equal opportunities to all by attending to the specific needs of each student and every school.
The decentralized approach will help primary schools of interior areas in enriching the teaching-learning environment along with its infrastructure development. Mo School in collaboration with alumni members of respective schools will plan, implement and monitor the progress of projects at the grassroots.
Aswathy S, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, S&ME Department highlighted the need to strengthen monitoring framework at school and state levels.
She stressed school-level mapping of projects before its implementation and proposed a monitoring system for the elementary school initiative. The Governing Council also discussed on creating a group of 1000 alumni volunteers to facilitate roll out of School Clubs in each district.
The volunteers will help in developing a progressive school ecosystem to foster student’s holistic growth. Mo School will also support in rolling out the School House System in all Secondary Schools. Mo School will organise motivational talk series by eminent alumni members and successful personalities to inspire students with their experience, expertise and life skills.
The programme will be broadcasted live on YouTube on a weekly basis to reach out to the maximum number of children. While appreciating the proposal, Chairperson, Mo School, Mrs Bagchi advised to integrate the 21st century skill components into student clubs to make Odisha students future ready.
The welcome address and thank you note of the meeting were delivered by Anupama Saha, SPD-OSEPA and Member Secretary. Amarjit Jena, Chief Operating Officer, Mo School deliberated the panel on the status of the implemented projects and plan for 2023-24.
The meeting also witnessed the presence of Dibya Jyoti Parida, DM, Ganjam, Saroj Kumar Sethi, DM, Dhenkanal, S.M. Pradhan, ADM Khordha, Srikanta Tarai, Director, SC & ST Dept, Mani Prasad Mishra, OSD, Mo School and representative from SC & ST Department and School & Mass Education Department.
