Bhubaneswar: To provide employment opportunities to women in urban areas, the State government has planned to provide support through different projects under the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) department.
According to an official release issued today, State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) has undertaken different programmes for providing employment to urban women. Meanwhile, SUDA has been able to form 30,000 self help groups (SHGs) and 300 mahasanghs. Plans have been drawn up to provide them with support for bringing in improvement in their livelihood through various projects of the H&UD department.
This was revealed by H&UD Minister Pratap Jena at a review meeting of SUDA at the Lok Seva Bhawan here today, the release added.
In order to raise their incomes these SHGs will be engaged in Swachh Bharat Mission,collection of water bill, micro composting plant,septage plant,community toilets, Aahar etc. the release further said.
The review was attended by G Mathivathanan, principal secretary, H&UD department, Sangramjit Nayak,municipal director and several other senior officials, the release added.
