Bhubaneswar: Celebrated sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Wednesday captivated visitors at Puri Beach with a striking sand sculpture created to mark Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas). The artwork, featuring a detailed depiction of the Constitution of India along with vibrant tricolour-inspired motifs, drew admiration from both tourists and locals.
Taking to X, Pattnaik shared an image of his creation and wrote, “On the occasion of Samvidhan Divas or Constitution Day, I have created a sand art with the message ‘Happy Constitution Day’ at Puri Beach, Odisha.” His post quickly gained traction, with thousands praising the craftsmanship and the patriotic theme.
The sand art showcased a finely sculpted representation of the Constitution’s cover page. Surrounding it were intricate circular patterns inspired by traditional diya designs, crafted in shades of orange, white and green, adding a visually vibrant element to the installation.
Constitution Day is observed annually on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949, marking the nation’s transition to a sovereign and democratic republic.
The Government of India officially designated the date as Samvidhan Divas in 2015, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, to promote constitutional values and honour Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary.
