**Puri:** Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created sand art of Lord Jagannath along with rasagola on the occassion of Rasagola Dibas on Niladri Bije at the golden beach here on Wednesday.
Sudarshan Pattnaik said, “Every year during Niladri bije, we celebrate rasagola dibas. Taking the riti-niti of Rath Yatra and Lord Jagannath’s niti bhog, we have created the sand sculpture”.
As per the rituals, all deities step into the Shree Mandir on Niladri Bije, except Lord Jagannath, as his path is obstructed by Goddess Lakshmi. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi is furious upon being left alone and hence relieves her anguish at Singha Dwara of the temple by not letting Lord Jagannath enter the temple precincts.
Lord Jagannath in turn offers ‘Rasagola’ to calm her down, consoles her and pleads to let him enter the temple.
The day is also celebrated as Rasagola Dibas in Odisha.
