Puri: Internationally renowned sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has created an effectual sand sculpture to mark ‘World No Tobacco Day’ on the Puri sea beach on Wednesday. The sand art depicts the harms caused by smoking tobacco and he tries to create awareness by sending a message “Say no to tobacco’.
According to Sudarshan Patnaik, he has appealed to everyone to quit or avoid smoking tobacco as it kills. “Through my sand art, I have tried to show the harms caused by smoking tobacco. I wish everyone to keep away from this vice,” he told the media.
“I have used about seven to eight tons of sand to create this sculpture,” he added.
Meanwhile, photos of the sculpture have become viral on social media.
‘World No Tobacco Day’ is observed on May 31 every year to create awareness regarding the harms associated with tobacco consumption. The theme for this year’s ‘World No Tobacco Day’ is ‘We need food, not tobacco’. This year’s theme aims to raise awareness of alternative crop production and encourage farmers to grow sustainable and nutritious crops.
