Bhubaneswar: Sudden downpour in many parts of the state capital brought respite from gruelling heatwave conditions on Tuesday.
Heavy showers lasted for more than an hour in Bhubaneswar. It brought much-needed relief for the residents as they have been reeling under severe heat due to soaring temperatures that reached over 40 degrees Celsius for many weeks.
It is learnt that heavy showers led to water-logging in several parts of the state capital. The water-logging in the state capital led to traffic jams and caused difficulty for people to drive vehicles in knee-deep water in many places.
Also, vehicular traffic between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar was affected due to the sudden thunderstorm which brought down the heat considerably. Besides, the power supply was disrupted in several parts due to lightning. The instant downpour in Bhubaneswar helped mercury decrease.
